Return to rest, O my soul, O my soul…
A cozy little cabin filled with the smell of hot chocolate, overlooking a frozen lake covered in fresh snow. 12 inspiring women from all over the US coming together to return to rest in the Lord.
A few weeks ago, I packed up my warm cozy sweaters, big heavy jacket, and lots of soft scarves to fly out to New Hampshire for a few days with not a single soul I knew. I love doing stuff like this…. Getting out of my comfort zone and being somewhat spontaneous. This time was extra special for me though. Not only was I embarking on a soul searching journey to really get back to building my relationship with the Lord, but it was also the first time I left my 3 month old for more than a few hours. God placed such a desire and need in my heart to attend, and once I got there He gave me peace with being away from our little guy for so long.
I learned so much while away at the Return to Rest retreat and got to meet some of the most beautiful souls God has ever created. It was amazing to see His work in each of our lives and how we all shared two common things…. Our love for Him and our need to return to rest in this chaotic and busy industry. My eyes were opened at how important it was to put Him first in my life and in my business. For He is the reason I am able to do what I love. Often times we get so wrapped up in our to-do lists and own accomplishments that we forget who is actually behind it all. Who we should be thanking and singing praise to.
Now that several weeks have passed since returning from our cozy little cabin on the snowy lake, I have made my time with Him more important and seek his grace in all that I do. Before the day starts and the busyness begins, I make sure to talk to the Lord, read His word, and ask for guidance to get through the day. This one simple step has brought me closer to Him and I am forever grateful for the Return to Rest retreat to provide the opportunity for Him to help me get back to where I needed to be.
I encourage you all to really return to rest in the Lord. Take some time off from the hustle and bustle of the day to stop and strengthen your relationship with Him. Your to-do’s will always be there. I promise! 😉
